Product Overview

Benchtop Spectrophotometer with Record 2-Inch Aperture: Measure heterogeneous samples with unprecedented accuracy. Not all product samples come in neat, flat, homogeneous units. Pellets, powders, particles, rough surfaces, fabrics, food, and natural materials are inherently non-uniform. Standard small-aperture instruments deliver inconsistent readings that fail to reflect the true overall color of these complex materials.

The Ametra Petri Benchtop Spectrophotometer features a record-breaking 2-inch (50 mm) diameter measurement aperture—the largest available in its class. This unique design averages color measurement across uneven, particulate, and heterogeneous sample surfaces, delivering reliable, repeatable color data for difficult-to-measure materials. Operable autonomously via an iPad-sized 7" color touchscreen or connected to a PC for advanced quality workflow integration.

Target Audience

  • Color matchers & color matching technicians
  • Colorists & tint specialists
  • Color quality control technicians & engineers
  • Manufacturing quality engineers with color focus
  • Color development & lab technicians
  • QC lab technicians & technical service specialists

Key Capabilities

  • Record 50 mm (2-Inch) Aperture: Maximum measurement area for true optical averaging of non-uniform samples.
  • Autonomous & Connected Operation: High-resolution 7" color touch screen for standalone use or PC integration via SQCX software.
  • PASS/FAIL Judgment: Instant tolerance verification, target standard storage, and verbal color difference reporting.
  • Specialized Indices: Dedicated food and industrial indices including Coffee roast, SCAA, HCCI, BCU, Tomato a/b, FTCI, TPS, TSS, TCS, TJS, and Lycopene.

Business Impact & Applications

  • Reliable Quality Control: Eliminate guesswork and spot-reading variance on heterogeneous materials to prevent costly quality escapes and customer rejection.
  • Raw Material to Finished Goods: Gain clear color visibility across raw powders, pellets, and finished goods to maintain strict brand standards.
  • Versatile Applications: Plastics and electronics, paints and inks, textiles and apparel, commercial printing, ceramics, and food industries.
